GROUP LAYOUTS

The group owns several layouts which allow members to try modelling techniques - or simply to run trains at one of our meetings.

These layouts are also taken to exhibitions to promote the group.

If you are an Exhibition Manager, please use the contact us page to request one of our layouts to attend your show.

MORTON HILL (009)

Morton Hill is a 009 layout which gives members a scenic test track for running 009 rolling stock and also provides an opportunity to learn and try techniques on a small layout – which they can then utilise on their own layouts.

The layout was designed to fit in a space box so that it is easy to transport.

It measures just 26” x 20” and demonstrates that you can build 009 in a small space.

The name of the layout comes from the Scout Hut where we hold our meetings. There are two side rooms named Morton and Hill.

CLIFTON BROOK (0-16.5)

Clifton Brook is an 0-16.5 (NG7) layout which was donated to the group by its builder.

The layout is a simple end-to-end trackplan based around a station with engine shed and basic facilities.

QUARRY END (009/00)

Originally built by Kidmore Model Railways, the layout was donated to the group by its most recent owner Andy Stubbs.

Based on a near defunct slate quarry, the track plan is intended to allow as much of a ‘run’ in 009 as the space will allow.

The layout represents the ‘back end’ of a transfer siding between narrow and standard gauge, with the OO gauge  ‘main-line’ entering at low level.
